What are web browsers?
A web browser is a program that allows you to connect to a web server and displays the information on the server, typically in the form of a HTML page. See Web Servers for more information. More than 90% of people use Microsoft Internet Explorer which comes free with windows. IE followed Netscape’s successful web browser and stormed the market. However there are now lots of different browsers available with Firefox the most popular.
Why does every one use Microsoft IE?
When Microsoft released their IE with windows, there was suddenly no need to buy Netscape’s web browser. This crushed Netscape and they are now just a fraction of the company they once were. However that is not the end of the story, Microsoft is now in tuff contention with Firefox a free and very good web browser.
Since Microsoft’s IE 6 is the latest update and has not been changed since 2000, Firefox is the obvious choice for web users that want quick surfing and no adverts pop-ups.
